A bonded restoration uses a composite resin as an alternative to amalgams (silver fillings) or porcelain veneers.  This is an excellent cosmetic option for patients. The restoration usually takes only one visit.

What To Expect

The first step following local anesthetic is to remove the decayed or unsightly portion of the tooth, or the old restoration.  The tooth is then etched, and an adhesive agent is applied.  The composite resin is then placed in the prepared tooth and cured with a blue light.  It is trimmed and polished, leaving you with a beautiful, natural-looking restoration.

Although composite resins are cosmetically pleasing, their durability may not be as great as other types of restorations.
